PEACEFUL PLACE RECEIVES FURTHER GRANT FROM VEOLIA TRUST FOR NEW SPECIALIST DAY CENTRE

We are delighted that Veolia Pitsea Marshes Maintenance Trust has confirmed a second grant of £144,000 of funding for refurbishment of our new specialist day centre in Timberlog Lane in Basildon. This in addition to the £300,000 grant received earlier in the year that enabled us to start the refurbishment project. The day centre building will be named 'The Veolia Centre' as a tribute to the Trust that has made the project possible for Peaceful Place.

The new day centre will provide enhanced facilities including a dementia friendly landscaped sensory garden, sensory room and art studio for our members who are living with young onset dementia. The centre is due to open in December 2018.  With an increase in the number of people diagnosed with young onset dementia, Peaceful Place is the only service in the south east of Essex offering a specialist day care service.

The central location will enable the charity to service a wider area including Thurrock Mental Health as well as Southend, Castle Point and Basildon. The facilities will also be available as a community hub for organisations to use for workshops, information sessions and other activities.
